St. George and the Dragon.

Saint George is perhaps most famous for slaying a dragon. Perhaps a very little is known about St. George. We do believe the following to be accurate:

Saint George was born in Turkey (in Cappadocia) linving in 3rd century AD.  Saint George's parents were Christian.

Saint George later lived in Palestine and became a Roman soldier.  Saint George protested against Rome's persecution of Christians and consequently was imprisoned and tortured.

Saint George is probably England's best Englishman.  Saint George was born in a foreign land, welcomed by the English, worked hard for the English for over 800 years.

In the Middle Ages the dragon (of Saint George) was frequently used to represent evil, an excellent tale of good triumphing over evil. Saint George is identified with English ideals of charity, chivalry and courage.

My very own prayer for greater belief and understanding!
