It has been noted by many that Oliver Cromwell had dealings in and about Euxton village, Lancashire, but especially with Commissary Farm in the Yarrow Valley, of Civil War days. Here are a few picture of Commissary Farm taken in 1973. The architecture of the derelict farm house is fairly unique in Euxton surrounds, but the roof framing of the old stables is very special: Above, Commissary Farm looking South from River Yarrow. Note the unique whale bone shaped rafters. The last folk that I knew to live at Commissary Farm up Back Lane, were the Cornwall's. The Cornwall's and Heffron's from Armitriding Farm, all went to school together at Hollingshead Street Congregational School. The Cornwall children who lived at Commissary Farm were: Joyce, Alan and Enid, along with their Mum and Dad. The Cornwall's were very nice folk, very placid and in-offensive in every respect.
